Integrated Medicine combines traditional and modern medicine
Traditional medicine does not give "hard science" answers but can provide basic observations that stimulate theory, which can be scientifically tested. This forms the basis for integrated medicine.

ImmuneACCORD

ImmuneACCORD technology stems from traditional herbal medicine as a form of integrative medicine that encompasses the science of phytonutrition and phytotherapy to forge hard links between traditional and modern medicinal practices.

Traditional medicine (native, herbal or folk medicine) developed over centuries within various societies and formed the foundations of modern medicine.

Traditional medical systems relied on inexact, unreliable observations that were often strongly rooted in mythological, superstitious, spiritual and religious elements and did not demand evidence-based science.

Traditional medicine has yielded many clues to plants with medicinal properties that have resulted in drug discovery.  The action of plant phytochemicals on immune response in traditional medicine and modern science is fertile ground for investigation of phytonutrition and phytotherapy.

ImmuneACCORD™ Technology:  Science & Innovation

Understanding ImmuneACCORD technology requires an awareness of immunity and phytonutrients

Immune response evolved to mount a rapid and robust reaction to prevent or defeat infection and counteract injury and disease. Our prehistoric ancestors were short lived and did not evolve a long term immune system "warranty". Even now at about modern middle-age the evolutionary warranty expires and immunity begins to dysfunction and loses the ability to maintain homeostasis. This can generate either immune suppression or over-reaction.

Although the role of adequate dietary or supplemented levels of vitamins to good health is well established, the health-promoting properties of phytonutrient "functional food" compounds on immune response is a work in progress and the subject of our scientific research.

The Apple Analogy of Biomarkers in Phytonutrition & Phytotherapy

The critical question to successful use of ImmuneACCORD phytonutrition and phytotherapy is:

"Must a pharmaceutical be a single defined site of action that eats the apple in one bite and often includes side effects associated with core and seeds?"

ImmuneACCORD

Alternatively "Can a well-designed phytonutrient formulation physiologically mimic good diet and eat the apple a small bite at a time, leaving the core and seed side effects?"

The reduction of immune biomarkers demonstrates that the apple has been eaten but it may not be possible to reconstruct exactly how the apple was eaten–a bite or site at a time.

The limitation of not knowing the specific (pharmacological) site of action means that measuring only biomarkers and evaluation of health and clinical outcomes is possible. This still allows detailed statistical examination of effectiveness and thus does not rule out either good evidence-based science or successful healthcare.

The Role of Diet & Supplement
The role of diet in good health was anticipated by ancient cultures and has evolved along with modern medicine and science. Nutritional discoveries regarding the relationship of diet to health include vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, dietary stress, dietary caloric restriction, blue zone diets and the French Paradox. Agriculture and food storage technology has had a positive effect on human nutrition and health; however, the same cannot be said for today's highly processed fast food diets.

Our ancestral diet of roots, berries, vegetables, fruit, seed, nuts and some meat was high in phytonutrients, low in calories. In addition daily activity included a certain amount of exercise to hunt or harvest. The dietary nutritional needs of our ancestors to maintain overall health and immune function are the same for us. Further the dietary desires for high-calorie food sources hardwired into our ancestors as a survival advantage became detrimental in the modern age were calorie-rich food is abundant. The fast food diet and lifestyle vastly removes us from our "hunter-gatherer" dietary roots and leaves many, even most in the modern world, to some degree calorie rich and nutritionally poor.

How ImmuneACCORD Works
ImmuneACCORD phytonutrition fortifies diet with phytonutrients science-selected for summative synergy to maintain immune homestasis.

ImmuneACCORD SEASONINGS AS A COUNTERBALANCE TO FAST FOOD DIET:

The presentation of colors, textures, smells and tastes associated with modern diet is designed to Mesmerize our primitive dietary desires for calorie rich food sources. This stimulates the senses in a way that increases appetite and consumption so that over-indulgence is practically guaranteed.

The flavors of spices can, with few calories and phytonutrient health benefits, provide the same sensory pleasures and can satisfy detrimental flavor cravings for sugar, salt and fats.

ImmuneACCORD spice blend's mild, appealing flavors allow consumption of sufficient quantities of spice to mask dietary cravings, reduce caloric intake and maximize phytonutrition to promote a better diet and gain health benefits.

Integrative Medicine: "Treating the Whole Person: Both doctors and patients alike are bonding with the philosophy of integrative medicine and its whole-person approach -- designed to treat the person, not just the disease. IM, as it's often called, depends on a partnership between the patient and the doctor, where the goal is to treat the mind, body, and spirit, all at the same time. While some of the therapies used may be nonconventional, a guiding principle within integrative medicine is to use therapies that have some high-quality evidence to support them." -- www.webmd.com
Phytochemicals: Plant-derived chemical compounds under scientific research for their potential health-promoting properties. "Phytonutrients" are plant-derived essential nutrients scientifically confirmed as important to human health. -- Wikipedia.org
Immune Response: The ability of any given cell in the body to distinguish self from nonself is called the immune response. All cells in the body are recognized as self. Any microorganism (for example, a foreign body or tumor) that invades or attacks the cells is recognized as nonself–or foreign–requiring the immune system to mount a combat against the nonself.
"Phytonutrients" are plant-derived essential nutrients scientifically confirmed as important to human health. -- Wikipedia.org
Physiologically: Being in accord with or characteristic of the normal functioning of a living organism.
Biomarker: A substance used as an indicator of a biologic state. It is a characteristic that is objectively measured and evaluated as an indicator of normal biologic processes, pathogenic processes, or pharmacologic responses to a therapeutic intervention. -- Wikipedia.org
Natraceutical: A food or naturally occurring food supplement thought to have a beneficial effect on human health.

ImmuneACCORD technology is made possible by the ever-increasing scientific proof for a common role for abnormal inflammation in insult, injury and most disease, and scientific experimentation on the influence of dietary levels of plant phytonutrients on inflammatory pathways, the epigeneome and disease.
